An American Academy of Chefs black-tie dinner will feature food from throughout the country to honor chef James Taylor, who has taught culinary students at Columbus State Community College for 25 years.

The dinner, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 14 at the Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square, will be hosted by the Columbus chapter of the American Culinary Federation.

Taylor worked as a chef for 23 years before he began teaching.

He serves as chairman of sports and exercise studies as well as hospitality at Columbus State.

According to chef David Wolf, one of the organizers, the nine-course dinner will include American Kobe beef short ribs from the Great Plains, a trio of smoked lake and stream fish from Tennessee, goat-cheese cheesecake with Lucky Penny Creamery cheese from Kent and a trio of desserts with New Mexican chocolate.

The dinner, open to the public, will raise money for the American Academy of Chefs, the honor society of the American Culinary Federation.

Tickets cost $125 at www. acfcolumbus.org.
