Westervill­e South wins in overtime

Cameron Caldwell scored a career-high 24 points, including three three-point shots during a 16-2 thirdquart­er run, to help Westervill­e South rally from 18 points down to edge Cleveland St. Ignatius 84-83 in overtime of a nonleague boys basketball game Saturday.

A three-point goal by South's Jordan McMillian with three seconds left in regulation forced overtime. The Wildcats built a six-point lead in overtime but needed to force a turnover in the waning seconds to hold on for the win. Antoine Smith scored 18 points for South (17-5), and Kaleb Wesson chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds. Caldwell had 16 of his points after halftime.

St. Ignatius (15-5) hit nine three-point shots in the first half in building the 18-point lead. South made its big push in the final two minutes of the third quarter.

St. Charles 60, Wellington 46: Braden Budd led four players in double figures with 18 points, and St. Charles (19-2) won a nonleague game at Wellington (16-6). Budd hit five three-point shots. Tavon Brown and George Javitch added 15 points each. Noah Berry had 15 for Wellington.

GIRLS

Hilliard Darby 52, New Albany 49: Annie Rauch had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Jessica Cox added 16 points, including two free throws with three seconds left as host Darby (13-10) edged New Albany (10-13) in a first-round Division I tournament game.

In other Division I tournament openers: Northland 58, Worthingto­n Kilbourne 52: Host Northland (19-4) converted a pair of steals into layups in the final 1:30 and held on to defeat Kilbourne (8-15).

DeSales 39, Upper Arlington 34: Emma Burns scored 22 points as DeSales (10-12) knocked off host Upper Arlington (15-8).
