Cincinnati takes control early, runs away from Tulsa

Jacob Evans III scored 13 of his 17 points while Cincinnati took control in the first half, and the 18thranked Bearcats pulled away to an 80-60 victory over visiting Tulsa on Saturday.

Cincinnati ( 24- 3, 13- 1 American Athletic Conference) has won 24 straight on its home court, including a couple of close escapes this season. The Bearcats put this one away early.

Kyle Washington added 18 points for Cincinnati, and Gary Clark had 14 points and eight rebounds.

The win was the 300th for Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin.

Junior Etou scored 22 points for Tulsa ( 12- 14, 6-8). The Golden Hurricane was only 6 of 16 from the field in the second half. OHIO 95, BOWLING GREEN 75: Jaaron Simmons scored 26 points and had 11 assists, and Jason Carter added 19 points to help host Ohio ( 17- 8, 9- 5 Mid- American Conference) rout Bowling Green ( 11- 16, 5- 9). Kenny Kaminski scored 14 points with three steals, Gavin Block and Jordan Dartis had 12 points apiece, and the Bobcats made 11 of 24 three- pointers and outrebound­ed the Falcons 39- 28. Rodrick Caldwell scored 12 points for Bowling Green.

TOLEDO 88, NORTHERN ILLINOIS 80, OT: Nate Navigato scored 21 points, including a jumper that sent the game into overtime, and Toledo beat host Northern Illinois. The Rockets ( 14- 13, 7- 7 MAC) led 59- 44 with 11: 31 to go in the second half, then allowed Northern Illinois ( 14- 13, 6- 8) to outscore them 27- 8 and take a 71- 67 lead on an Austin Pauga three- pointer with 1: 52 remaining. Navigato hit a jumper with 31 seconds left in regulation to even it at 71- all and send the game into overtime.

DAYTON 76, ST. BONAVENTUR­E 72: Scoochie Smith scored 19 points and Kendall Pollard added 16 to help host Dayton beat Saint Bonaventur­e. Jaylen Adams made a three- pointer to bring the Bonnies ( 16- 10, 8- 6 Atlantic 10) within 74- 72 with three seconds left, but Darrell Davis sealed the win for Dayton ( 21- 5, 12- 2) with a pair of free throws with .9 seconds left. The Flyers made 28 of 39 free throws.

BUFFALO 71, MIAMI 58: Blake Hamilton made fi ve three- pointers and scored 23 points to lead host Buffalo ( 15- 12, 9- 5) over Miami University ( 10- 17, 3- 11). Michael Weathers led the Redhawks with 19 points and Rod Mills had 16.
