But, then, another mistake doomed the Jackets.

Forward Josh Anderson skated off for a line change even though the puck never crossed the red line, leaving the Jackets with four skaters as the Predators pounced.

Filip Forsberg skated the puck deep in the zone, then angled it back to Mattias Ekholm as he skated unabated through the left circle, one-timing a shot past Bobrovsky.

“Bad (line) change),” Tortorella said. “That’s a bad change.”

The Blue Jackets now get a five-day break, as mandated by the NHL and the league’s players associatio­n. They’ll report back for practice at 4 p.m. on Friday, likely tanned, rested and ready for the final push of the season.
