Gorsuch deserves Supreme nod
One of the most significant things a president does is nominate a principled and skillful judge to the Supreme Court of the United States. The decisions made by a Supreme Court justice will impact generations of citizens who rely on the Constitution to protect their liberty and freedom.
Selecting a nominee is a sobering decision that must be grounded in protecting the Constitution and not allowing shifting political winds to rewrite it. The Constitution is essential to safeguarding our way of life. After 229 years, America remains the freest, wealthiest, most successful society on Earth thanks to conservation of our Constitution.
It is our longstanding responsibility to defend freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and due process of law. The American people voted for President Donald Trump based on his campaign promises that included his publicized nominees for the Supreme Court. It is irrefutable that he selected Judge Neil Gorsuch as his nominee with the full support and blessing of the voters. The Senate unanimously confirmed Gorsuch to the federal appeals court just weeks after his nomination in 2006. Gorsuch was described as “unanimously well-qualified” by the American Bar Association and praised as a well-respected and notable author of legal opinions.
Gorsuch is recognized as a textualist and an originalist who appreciates and adheres to the founding fathers constitutional intent. This great nation’s culture, social structure, laws and legal system protections are enshrined in our Constitution and it must be protected. Gorsuch has the blessing of the people and the Senate should confirm him overwhelmingly as it did in 2006.
I urge readers to ask Sens. Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown to confirm Gorsuch without delay.
