OD’d mom charged with endangering children
An East Side woman who was found unconscious from an overdose with her husband in a pickup truck, with their children crying outside, was charged Thursday with endangering children.
Elizabeth Boster, who turned 33 Thursday, was charged with two counts of endangering children. Each charge is a first-degree misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if she is convicted.
Columbus police found the two girls, ages 11 and almost 2, crying outside a parked pickup truck at 4:35 p.m. Saturday at the Big Walnut Park on the East Side.
Inside the truck, police found Boster and her husband, Anthony Boster, 34, both passed out from apparent heroin overdoses. Syringes were found on the floorboard at their feet, a report said.
Officers administered life-saving shots of Narcan to the couple. Mrs. Boster was taken to Mount Carmel East hospital and remained there a few days. Mr. Boster was taken into custody and placed in the Franklin County jail on two counts of endangering children. He also was charged with a felony charge of receiving stolen property after police discovered the pickup truck had been reported stolen.
The two children were turned over to Franklin County Children Services.
Mr. Boster initially told police that an acquaintance of his wife’s gave her permission to use the truck, but when questioned he could not identify the person. Mrs. Boster was not charged in connection with the truck.
She is scheduled to appear Tuesday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
