A freestanding emergency department to be built on East Main Street in Reynoldsburg will be part of a $38 million OhioHealth network of similar facilities in central Ohio.

Construction is expected to start soon on the 8,000-square-foot building at 6960 E. Main St., where a now-demolished Burger King once stood, according to Eric Snowden, Reynoldsburg’s planning and zoning administrator.

Kristin McManmon, president of OhioHealth Neighborhood Care, said the Reynoldsburg location will open late this year or early in 2018. Last summer, OhioHealth announced plans to build emergency facilities in Grove City, Hilliard and Obetz, to open sometime in 2018.

McManmon said 20 full-time employees will be hired at the Reynoldsburg facility, with a payroll of $1.4 million in the first year.

Plans call for the building to have eight patient bays. Services will include X-rays, CT imaging, ultrasound, lab testing and pharmacy support.

“The location will be equipped to handle almost any emergency situation,” McManmon said.

She said the facility will be open 24 hours, seven days a week, but should be used only for true emergencies, such as severe or life-threatening conditions.

OhioHealth was not offered any tax incentives by the city of Reynoldsburg, she said.
