Pastor gets prison after admitting to assault

WEST CHESTER, Pa. — A suburban Philadelph­ia pastor accused of sexually assaulting and impregnati­ng a teenager has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to three to six years in prison after a judge rejected an earlier plea agreement as too lenient.

Thirty-five-year-old Jacob Malone, of Exton, was sentenced Friday after entering guilty pleas to institutio­nal sex assault, corruption of minors and child endangerme­nt. He also must register as a sex offender for 15 years.

Malone and prosecutor­s had reached an earlier plea deal that called for a two-year minimum jail term, but Judge Jacqueline Cody rejected that deal a month ago. was elected last November to Florida’s redrawn 27th district, a stretch of southeast MiamiDade County that is heavily Democratic. Hillary Clinton won it over Donald Trump by 20 percentage points, and RosLehtine­n was able to win it by 10 percentage points.

The congresswo­man explained her decision in a piece published by The Miami Herald on Sunday. She called it “a personal decision based on personal considerat­ions.”

The Miami Herald reports 22-year-old Alex Direeno was being held Sunday without bond at the Manatee County Jail on charges of prostituti­on and possession of drug parapherna­lia and on outstandin­g warrants.

Records show that the incident happened last week. An undercover detective told the woman he wanted oral sex and she agreed to do it for $25. As they briefly went back and forth on the price, she finally agreed to perform the act for $25 and chicken McNuggets.

Sirens wailed across the country at 8 p.m., prompting Israelis to stop in their tracks and stand silently with heads bowed for a minute to remember the dead.

It is one of the most somber dates on Israel’s calendar. Bereaved families visit cemeteries and attend ceremonies. Places of entertainm­ent shut down and TV and radio stations air war stories and melancholy music.
