Durant leads Warriors to 3- 0 series lead

-

Kevin Durant scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, helping move the Golden State Warriors to the brink of the NBA Finals with a 120-108 victory over the injury-riddled San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night in the Western Conference finals.

Stephen Curry added 21 points and became the franchise leader in postseason points, passing Hall of Famer Rick Barry, as the Warriors took a 3-0 series lead, and putting them one step closer to a potential Finals meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are having their way with the Boston Celtics through two games in the Eastern Conference finals.

Manu Ginobli had 21 points off the bench to pace the Spurs, who are reeling without injured star Kawhi Leonard and guard Tony Parker, and dropped the last two games by a combined 48 points. The Spurs lost David Lee to a left knee injury in the opening quarter Saturday.

The Warriors can close out the series in Game 4 on Monday in San Antonio.

San Antonio led 33-29 after the first quarter. A three-pointer by Durant broke a 49-49 tie with 3:50 to play in the second quarter, kicking off a 12-0 run by Golden State. The Warriors led 64-55 at halftime and didn't trail in the second half.

The Spurs got as close as three, 74-71 with 8:07 left in the third quarter, but trailed by 12 less than four minutes later. San Antonio never mounted a serious challenge in the final period.

Klay Thompson added 17 points for Golden State. LaMarcus Aldridge had 18 points for the Spurs.
