Clippers offense stifled in doublehead­er sweep

Weak hitting sank Columbus as the Clippers dropped both games of a doublehead­er Wednesday to the Scranton/ Wilkes- Barre RailRiders 6- 0 and 4- 3 at PNC Field in Moosic, Pennsylvan­ia.

The Clippers managed just seven hits over 14 innings.

In the opener, RailRiders starter Chance Adams ( 3- 1) allowed one hit and struck out 12 in six innings. Closer Ben Heller worked a hitless seventh to complete the shutout.

Erik Kratz had the lone Clippers hit, a double in the third inning.

The RailRiders scored in each of the first four innings, including a three- run fourth highlighte­d by Dustin Fowler's two- run homer.

Tyler Wade led off the game with a home run against the Clippers' Michael Peoples Clippers box scores, Internatio­nal League standings /

( 1- 3), who allowed six earned runs on 10 hits in seven innings.

In the second game, the Clippers fell behind 3- 0 in the second inning. The RailRiders chased starter Chris Narveson ( 0- 3), who gave up three earned runs on four hits in 1 innings.

Adam Moore's RBI single in the fourth cut it to 3- 1.

The RailRiders scored a run in the seventh off of reliever Joe Colon.

Moore hit a tworun homer off of RailRiders closer Ernest Frieri to cut it to 4- 3 with one out in the ninth, but Jeremy Lucas followed a walk by Todd Hankins by grounding into a game- ending double play.
