Driver dies after motorcycle hits pole

A 40-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle, struck a utility pole and died early Sunday morning on the Southeast Side.

Terrance Mason crashed at about 2 a.m. at Courtright Road and Clarkstone Avenue. He was transporte­d to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in an ambulance and pronounced dead at 2:55 a.m., according to Columbus Police.

Police didn’t say if he was wearing a helmet. He was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR-1000.

Mason’s death is the 23rd traffic-related fatality in Columbus this year.

Voter records indicate Mason lived on Eden Creek Lane on the Southeast Side, just a few miles from where he died.
