- —Staff reports

COLUMBUS — Commonhouse Ales has become the first craft brewery in Ohio to be certified as a B Corp.

The designation means the company, owned by Lenny Kolada, also founder of Smokehouse Brewing Co., meets high standards of social and environmental practices. For instance, Commonhouse donates $1 from every six-pack of its fl agship beer to a fund at the Columbus Foundation. More than $14,000 has been donated to date.

B Corps are certified by B Lab. Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Luftman, Heck and Associates, and Fulcrum Creatives are the other central Ohio companies certified as B Corps.
