Coombs now assistant coordinator on defense

Ohio State announced Thursday that sixth-year assistant football coach Kerry Coombs has been named assistant coordinator-defense by coach Urban Meyer.

Coombs will keep the roles of cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator. Meyer said in December, after rumors surfaced of Coombs following newly named Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell to the Bearcats, that Coombs would have an enhanced position on the OSU staff.

The promotion comes with a $75,000 raise to a base salary of $500,000.
