Saturday event to honor babies who have died

A community gathering and a 1-mile walk to remember babies in the community who have died will take place Saturday morning Downtown.

The first Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Remembranc­e Walk in Columbus will take place at Genoa Park to remember babies who have died because of miscarriag­e, stillbirth, SIDS or any other cause in pregnancy or infancy.

Registrati­on begins at 8:30 a.m., and a presentati­on starts at 10 a.m with readings, music and speakers. Babies are honored by having their names read aloud, and by a butterfly release. The 1-mile reflective walk follows.

Registrati­on is $40 for adults and $35 for seniors; children 15 or younger are free.

Participan­ts can register at Genoa Park on Saturday.
