HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

- Tuesday is Independen­ce Day. Because of the holiday:

■ Post offices will be closed, and mail will not be delivered.

■ Federal, state, county and city offices will be closed.

■ City of Columbus parking meters will be free, but parking restrictio­ns at some meters will be enforced, including but not limited to morning and evening rush hours and zones marked for valets, taxis, loading, handicappe­d-only and residentia­l parking permit areas. Motorists are advised to read signage.

■ There will be no trash collection on the holiday in Columbus. For residents assigned a trash-color code, your collection schedule will rotate one weekday forward until the next holiday, Labor Day, on Monday, Sept. 4. For those without a color-code designatio­n, trash pickup will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week, with Friday collection on Saturday. Rumpke's biweekly recycling and yard-waste service also will be delayed by one day after the holiday, with Friday's collection on Saturday. Regular collection­s will resume the week of July 10.

■ Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College campuses will be closed.

■ All Columbus Metropolit­an Library branches will be closed. ■ The Central Ohio Transit Authority will operate on a holiday (or Sunday) service schedule. Timetables for each line are available online at COTA.com/Schedules. COTA’s customer-service call center at 614-228-1776 will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the holiday. The pass sales office, at 33 N. High St., will be closed on the holiday.
