Bacon to resurrect ‘ Tremors’ film role

- By Nick Vadala

Kevin Bacon will return to Perfection, Nevada, as part of a TV reboot of the 1990s monster movie “Tremors.”

The cable network SyFy has announced that it has ordered a pilot for the potential series.

Bacon will reprise his role from the original film — as Valentine McKee — with the proposed series set in Perfection 25 years after the events of the first movie, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The first “Tremors” film dealt with giant, prehistoric, wormlike monsters called Graboids attacking the small desert town.

Now, a quartercentury into the future, Bacon’s McKee is “battling age, alcohol and delusional hero complex” as Graboids again descend upon Perfection, the magazine says. The show reportedly will deal with Bacon’s character trying to save the town a second time.

“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting,” Bacon said in a statement. “I just got to thinking: Where would this guy end up after 25 years?”

The actor, who has talked about doing the series since at least 2015, added, “We hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks who have yet to discover it.”

Since its 1990 debut, the “Tremors” franchise has grown to include several directto-video sequels, including the 1996 follow-up, “Tremors 2: Aftershocks,” which featured original franchise co-star Fred Ward as Earl Bassett.

That movie was followed by “Tremors 3: Back to Perfection” (2001), “Tremors 4: The Legend Begins” (2004) and “Tremors 5: Bloodlines” (2015).

Bacon appeared only in the original film, and he is the only originalcast member attached to the reboot.
