Why worry about murderers’ feelings?

-

The Associated Press article “Ohio preparing for first execution since 2014” in Saturday’s Dispatch reported that the “protocol” needs to ensure the convicted criminal does not feel any pain.

Did he worry about whether his victim (a 3-year-old girl) was feeling any pain as he raped and killed her? Did he feel any remorse at the time? Why are murderers and rapists even given a choice? They should die the same as their victims.

Shooting should require a firing squad, and strangulation should result in a hanging. For murders involving rat poison, we got that, too.

That little girl was in hell and didn’t have a choice to “not feel any pain.” Maybe this would change some things and we wouldn’t have overcrowded prisons with three squares and a cot.

I am not a heartless person, but this riled my senses. Things are getting bad and they are not going to change if we keep giving them a lollipop and a pat on the back.

It is not a laughing matter but one that warrants frontpage news. Opinions such as the one expressed here only support continued gender inequality bias and furthers us from pay-gap closure among the sexes.

Citing the “special healthcare-bill writing group of 13 men,” stating it would have been better with female input, but based on fact it couldn’t have been worse. This degrades women by lowering the bar on expectations.

Professional women most certainly do not treat their careers as jokingly as this column came across.
