CRIME STOPPERS

A man robbed a Subway restaurant last month after waiting in line for a sandwich on the city’s South Side.

Police still have not been able to make an arrest. As part of Central Ohio Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week, police are hoping someone comes forward with information about the man who held up the sandwich shop at 3386 S. High St. just before 3 p.m. on July 28.

The robber, described as a white man in his 30s who is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds, first went into the restroom. He came back and stood in line at the counter. The man allowed other customers to go ahead hoping the restaurant would empty out. Instead, more people continued to come in. He chose to go ahead with the heist, police said.

When he approached the register to pay for his order, the robber demanded money from the cashier and implied that he was armed with a weapon. He placed the money in a red drawstring book bag before fleeing.

The robber had a thin build, dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing dark rimmed glasses, a black hoodie, a white T-shirt, a black ball cap, dark shorts and grey tennis shoes. He had a tattoo on his left hand between his index finger and thumb. Surveillance photos are posted online.

A reward is being offered to anyone who might have information leading to the robber’s arrest. Tipsters remain anonymous.

Anyone with information can call 614-461-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online at stopcrime.org or download the app P3 Tips to submit a tip.
