Ohio voters will get to hear the first forum of the four GOP gubernatorial candidates in early October from a suburban Columbus megachurch.
Republican pollster Frank Luntz will interview each candidate individually for 15 to 20 minutes in the event, sponsored by Citizens for Community Values and Salem Media Group.
The Together for Ohio gathering is being billed as “No spin. No Teleprompters. Nonpartisan. Just a time for honest conversation about how these candidates would lead our state, how their faith impacts their lives, and where they stand on key issues.”
Organizers say all four candidates have confirmed attendance: Attorney General Mike DeWine, Secretary of State Jon Husted, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci of Wadsworth and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor.
“It’s clear that in 2016, evangelical and Catholic voters played a central role in the outcomes of elections throughout Ohio,” said Aaron Baer, president of Citizens for Community Values. “These voters care deeply about the future we’re creating for our families. That’s why Together for Ohio provides a platform for meaningful conversation from the candidates in both parties to discuss the issues that matter.”
The Oct. 8 event from 7 to 9 p.m. at Genoa Baptist Church just north of Westerville will be broadcast live on Salem Media of Ohio’s 98.9FM The Answer and 104.5FM/880AM The Word.
“Together for Ohio gives the candidates for governor an opportunity to rise above the political fray and speak directly to the voters. No spin. No teleprompters. Just a time for honest conversation about the direction of our state,” said Tom Heyl, General Manager of Salem Media Group Columbus.
Tickets, either $15 for general admission or $75 for reserved seating and a preevent dinner with Luntz, can be ordered at http://www. ccv.org/togetherforohio.
