EXTRA POINT Logan’s five TDs carry Mifflin over West

Daveonn Logan threw four touchdown passes, ran for a fifth and engineered a 25-0 Mifflin scoring run in a 38-26 win over host West on Friday night in a nonleague game.

Logan accounted for 366 of the team’s 413 total yards: 312 passing, on 11 completion­s, and 54 yards on the ground.

He threw his first TD pass to Aman Thornton covering 61 yards in the first quarter and, after West took an 18-13 lead, sparked the run with three touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Thornton, who finished with 136 yards on his two scoring catches.

Itika Wynn led the Punchers with four receptions for 124 yards, including a 62-yard TD catch.

West’s Christian White and Michael White each ran for 174 yards, with Christian scoring three firsthalf touchdowns. Michael White scored the game’s final touchdown.

The one-two punch of Elijah Dillon and Nate Hall powered host Briggs to a victory over Linden. On just 10 carries, Dillon ran for 120 yards with touchdowns of 59 and 31 yards. Hall amassed 134 yards on 23 carries and scored on a 14-yard TD run. The Bruins outgained the Panthers 292-49 on the ground. Eddie Lewis scored a pair of touchdowns, one on an intercepti­on return, to pace Linden.

Jeremiah Tucker threw for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns, one to Coriawn Wade, the other to Shi’Quan Likely, to pace South over visiting East. Zephaniah Jones led South with 67 yards receiving on four receptions.

Eastmoor Academy racked up 315 yards on the ground and routed visiting Franklin Heights in a matchup of 2016 playoff qualifi ers. Savon Edwards Jr. had 145 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns to pace the Warriors. Cody Little ran for 98 yards and a pair of TDs for Franklin Heights. Jacob Slark made four catches for 125 yards for the Falcons.

Demonte Taylor ran roughshod to lead Independen­ce over visiting Reigning Sports Academy. Taylor finished with 263 yards on 19 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns. Zion Johnson added 67 yards and a TD run and returned a fumble 41 yards for the game’s only touchdown in the second half.

Joey Velazquez scored a pair of touchdown runs and host DeSales blanked Royal Imperial College. The Stallions forced six turnovers — four intercepti­ons and a pair of fumble recoveries — in earning its fi rst shutout since the 2014 season and winning its 50th consecutiv­e regularsea­son game.
