Alder rallies late, tops Marysville in overtime

Preston Eisnaugle threw a two-point conversion pass to Bryan Blacka with 11 seconds remaining, and the two connected again in overtime for an 11-yard scoring pass to lift Jonathan Alder to a 35-32 victory over host Marysville in a nonleague game Friday night.

Eisnaugle, who finished with 171 yards and three touchdown passes, threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Devier, setting up the two-pointer on Alder’s final posession in regulation.

After Thomas Wolfe gave the Monarchs a 32-29 lead in overtime with a 30-yard field goal, Eisnaugle threw a 28-yard pass to Dalton Potts (seven receptions, 85 yards) and an 11-yarder to Blacka to set up the winning score.

Blacka also caught a 22-yard TD pass in the third quarter to give Alder a 21-13 lead.

Thomas Rush, who led Marysville with 133 yards rushing, helped spark a 16-0 scoring run with one of his two touchdowns to give the Monarchs a 29-21 lead.

Jamie Dye led Alder in rushing with 100 yards and two first-half scores. Host Grandview slipped past Centennial on a safety with four minutes left. The Stars lined up to punt from their own 15-yard line, but the ball was snapped over Chris Darlington’s head and out of the end zone. Jaylen Gilbert threw for 216 yards and three scores to help give Centennial a 28-21 lead with 8:21 remaining. Grandview’s James Lachey tied the score on a 1-yard run with 5:38 left, and Centennial was forced to punt on its next possession. Craig Burt led the Stars with 160 yards receiving and two TDs. Luke Lachey caught two TD passes for Grandview.

Michael Reed’s 27-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter lifted host Watkins Memorial over Whetstone. Reed had 54 yards rushing and 35 yards receiving, including a 23-yard TD catch in the second quarter to tie the score at 6. Marion Curry led Whetstone with 50 rushing yards and a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

Brent McClure scored the game’s first two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, and Liberty Union downed visiting Heath. Chaise Wohrer led Liberty Union with 113 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Brandon Haley rushed for 220 yards on 20 carries and scored four touchdowns, and Granville pummeled host Hamilton Township. Haley had two first-quarter touchdowns and closed the half with a 98-yard TD run to give the Blue Aces a 38-7 lead. Drysten Crallie totaled 114 yards and had two touchdown receptions for the Rangers.
