DeWine continues miscarriage of justice

-

My mom has been married to a man for 16 years — A God-fearing man who is faithful, kind, gentle and forgiving. I think readers know him: Dale Johnston.

Years ago Dale took the punishment that was meant for the men who brutally raped, murdered and butchered the bodies of his stepdaughter and her fiancé. He was sentenced to die by execution, and the guilty men went free. Dale’s case was built on the testimony of witnesses that had been hypnotized, and fraudulent evidence built on a case of lies and fiction. The inept judges and officers were allowed to carry on in their professions without so much as a smirk.

State Attorney General Mike DeWine has been fighting him, and continues to insist in his guilt even after the real killers confessed to the heinous crimes back in 2008.

While in prison, Dale’s 50-plus acres of real estate were confiscated by the state, his livestock disappeared, and his home was burned down. Though he fought for our freedom in the Korean War he still surprisingly has to fight to be lawfully and rightfully declared innocent. Why does he still need to fight DeWine in this battle?

Dale became a Christian while on death row so many years ago, and thus has forgiven those who brutally murdered his family; he has also forgiven DeWine, even though the attorney general continues to support this egregious betrayal of the so– called justice system.

Now Dale is in the prison of Alzheimer’s disease. His memories are sinking into a past where he was forgotten by the system that he has voted for, paid taxes for and has supported in good faith all these years. He should be allowed the peace that he has fought for so hard all these years. We are getting ready to sell the home that he has built with my mom so that he can have the care in the last years of his life.

Dale has been a faithful member of a Grove City church. How can we support DeWine’s candidacy for governor who has sworn to uphold the law, but stands by and watches this gross miscarriage of justice? When it comes to the failed system versus the innocent man, we will choose to support the innocent. I hope and pray that DeWine will too.
