DALLAS — Southwest Airlines, the top carrier at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, announced Monday it will launch seasonal nonstop service between Columbus and Cancun, Mexico, on April 14.

The carrier has been expanding international service, but this will be the first such flight from Columbus.

The airline said flights will operate on Saturdays only. It did not give an end date for the service. ride-hailing company Uber.

Barry Diller, board chairman of the travel booking site, said in a note to employees Monday that he believes Khosrowshahi intends to take the new post, but Diller says nothing has been finalized.

The employee note was filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. It was the first official confirmation that Khosrowshahi has been offered the Uber job. network agreed to buy moneylosing Ten, sidelining a potential bid from News Corp. Co-Chairman Lachlan Murdoch. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

The deal shows how U.S. media companies are looking overseas for growth as the domestic advertising market struggles. It also gives CBS a boost as it competes with other media giants, like Netflix Inc. and HBO, who are expanding online services worldwide.

Led by Chief Executive Officer Les Moonves, CBS has reduced its reliance on advertising in part by selling shows in international markets. The New York-based company said this month it would take CBS All Access outside the U.S. next year, starting with Canada.
