Victoria’s Secret show heading to China

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be filmed for the first time in China, marking another step in the L Brands lingerie chain’s expansion into Asia.

The show will air at 10 p.m. Nov. 28 on CBS, including WBNS-TV (Channel 10).

The Shanghai location is another first for the show, which was filmed for the first time in Paris last year and for the first time in London in 2014.

In May, executives of the Columbus-based retailer spoke of the growing importance of China and potential sales there.

“China is the biggest market in the world,” said Leslie H. Wexner, the company’s founder, chairman and CEO. “Their middle class is larger than the entire U.S. population, and it’s growing.”

L Brands is opening six more stores in China this year, Wexner said. Supporting that growth is a 50-person office in China that includes accounting, legal, human resources and communications departments — “all the things to support a large and expanding presence in China,” Wexner said.

“As a matter of fact, we’ll have a board meeting in China sometime this year.”

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was launched in 1995 but made its TV debut in 2001. It is seen in more than 190 countries and includes musical performances, interviews with guests, model profiles and a behind-thescenes look at the making of the show.

The lineup of Victoria’s Secret Angels will include returning models Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Behati Prinsloo, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes, Josephine Skriver, Lais Ribeiro, Martha Hunt, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell and Taylor Hill, plus new faces.
