With that figure in mind, the 15th minute didn’t go how it might have hoped. Fredy Montero got behind the Crew’s back line and scored to give the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead. It was Montero’s 12th goal of the season.

Manneh allowed the Crew to breathe a sigh of relief in the 19th minute. He dribbled to the edge of the box, confusing Whitecaps defender Jakob Nerwinski, before crossing to forward Ola Kamara, who stuck out his right leg to draw the Crew even at 1.

From here on, the Crew will play only Eastern Conference opponents. Up first, in what will be a critical home game, are the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.
