West runs for 580 yards in 90- 42 rout

Michael White ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns and host West rushed for 580 yards in a 90-42 victory over Africentri­c in a City League South shootout Friday night.

Jakob Adams added 149 yards, Christian White 102 and Cameron Scarffol 90 on the ground, with each scoring two touchdowns for the Cowboys (4-5, 2-4), who stormed ahead 48-8 in the first quarter and led 78-22 at halftime. Christian White also threw two touchdown passes, both to Adams.

Jaron Anderson threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score to lead Africentri­c. John Figueroa rushed for 128 yards on just five carries with a score. West outgained Africentri­c 682-392 in total yards.

Daveonn Logan threw for 341 yards and four touchdown passes as Mifflin (8-1, 5-1) pulled away from host Centennial (3-6, 2-3) in the City North. Logan, who completed 15 of 23 passes, tossed touchdowns of 60, 30 and 35 yards to Aman Thornton to help the Punchers score four unanswered TDs after trailing 14-13. Thornton finished with seven receptions for 260 yards.

John Branham rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns as Northland (6-3, 4-1) pulled away from visiting East (0-9, 0-5) in the City North. Branham had TD runs of 20 and 3 yards that helped the Vikings build an 18-7 lead in the third quarter. Mike Williams, who had three touchdowns, sparked a 30-0 scoring run with a 50-yard TD reception midway through the third. Armon Mackey led East with 148 yards rushing and two TDs. Demontae Taylor rushed for 203 yards, setting up two touchdowns apiece for Daleron McCarrell and Darante Ervin, as host Independen­ce (8-1, 5-1) routed South (3-5, 1-4) in a City League South game. Half of Kionte Blow’s six completion­s were for touchdowns, including two to Drew Collins.

Five different players scored touchdowns for host Whetstone (3-6) in a nonleague victory over the Columbus Crusaders (2-7). T.J. Johnson returned a kickoff 74 yards for a score in the second quarter after the lone Crusaders touchdown.

Savon Edwards accounted for four touchdowns, three on the ground, in leading host Eastmoor Academy (5-4, 4-2) to a win over City South foe Briggs (4-5, 2-4). Edwards ran for 117 yards and had all of his touchdowns in the first half, including a 57-yard pass to Napoleon Harris just 3:11 into the game.
