Hamilton Township upsets Amanda on late TD

Eric Bonte accounted for three fourth-quarter touchdowns, including a 17-yard pass to Kazeon Ross with 58 seconds remaining, as Hamilton Township rallied to upset host Amanda-Clearcreek 29-23 in a Mid-State League Buckeye Division game Friday night.

Bonte, who hit 16 of 18 passes for 148 yards and rushed for 178 yards, had a part in all 92 yards on the winning drive. He completed four passes for 66 yards and ran for 26 yards.

With the Rangers (4-5, 2-3) trailing 17-7 to start the fourth quarter, Bonte scored on runs of 2 and 38 yards before Aces QB Brayden Neff scored on a 5-yard run for a 23-21 lead with 2:31 left in the game.

Neff finished with 170 yards passing and 76 rushing for the Aces (6-3, 4-1), who dropped to second place in the division behind Teays Valley.

Ross had eight receptions for 85 yards for Hamilton Township. Raymell Byrd tossed two touchdown passes to O.C. Wellman as host Whitehall (6-3) coasted to a nonleague win over Ready (6-3). Byrd, who had 109 yards passing and 105 rushing, connected with Wellman for TD passes of 25 and 80 yards for the Rams, who gained zero yards on just five offensive plays in the second half. The Rams’ Christian Gordon had a 17-yard TD run in the first quarter and a 76-yard punt return for a third-quarter score.

James Lachey ran for a touchdown, threw for a TD and returned an intercepti­on 40 yards for a score to lead host Grandview (5-4) to a nonleague win over Logan Elm (1-8). Lachey finished with five completion­s for 148 passing yards, including a 72-yard TD to Luke Lachey.

Herman Moultrie ran for 205 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries for Columbus Academy (7-2, 3-1) in an MSL Ohio win over host Liberty Union (3-6, 1-4). Caleb Shook threw for 176 yards and a score for Liberty Union.

BloomCarro­ll (7-2, 3-2) piled up 552 yards of offense and defeated visiting Fairfield Union (5-4, 3-3) in an MSL Buckeye game. Frankie Williams rushed for 172 yards and a pair of scores, and Otto Kuhns passed for 243 yards and three TDs and ran for 118 yards and another score. Tyler Wolfe ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns for Fairfield Union, which led 22-21 at halftime. Sam Sass threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to rally Upper Arlington (5-4, 3-1) past host Central Crossing (3-6, 1-3) in the OCC Central. Sass completed 11 of 26 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. He threw a 64-yard TD pass to Josh Rushin with 6:44 remaining and found Steven Bair 79 seconds later on a 48-yard touchdown for the lead. Rushin finished with 160 yards on six receptions. Avery Heath led UA with 141 yards rushing and a score.

Big Walnut’s Nathan Lawyer and Tyler Ronk each had a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and the Eagles (4-5, 4-0) maintained their one-game lead in the OCC Capital by edging host Groveport (0-9, 0-4).

DeShawn Williams caught eight passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns to pace visiting Canal Winchester (5-4, 2-2) in an OCC Capital victory over Newark (1-8, 1-3). Dominic Davis scored on a pair of 3-yard runs in the second quarter for the Indians.

Kenyon Pannell rushed for 117 yards, including a 60-yard touchdown run with 52 seconds remaining, and Dublin Scioto (5-4, 3-2) pulled out an OCC Cardinal win over host Thomas Worthingto­n (3-6, 0-6). The Irish, who trailed 7-0 at halftime, tied it on a Tobias Thomas 34-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter. Thomas also sealed the victory when he recovered a fumble on the Cardinals’ final offensive play, returning it 58 yards for a score.

Cam Scott scored on two 1-yard runs in the first half and host Dublin Coffman (7-2, 4-0) defeated Westland (1-8, 0-4) in the OCC Central. Marcus Ernst threw for 117 yards and a score for the Shamrocks.

Kalib O’Connor rushed for 123 yards and Jordan Hicks ran for 118 to pace host Hilliard Davidson (4-5, 3-1) to a victory over Marysville (3-6, 1-3) in the OCC Central.

Mike Lowery passed for 342 yards and four touchdowns and host Gahanna (6-3, 2-2) sprinted to a 20-point halftime lead in an OCC Ohio win over Grove City (1-8, 0-4).

Jimmy Weirick passed for 249 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 97 yards and a score as visiting Pickeringt­on North (7-2, 3-1) defeated Lancaster (4-5, 1-3) in the OCC Ohio. Jaylon Baylor caught two scoring strikes from Weirick for the Panthers.
