Michigan pulls away from Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio — Katelynn Flaherty scored 31 points, Hallie Thome had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and No. 25 Michigan used a 25-15 fourth quarter to beat Ohio 74-61 on Saturday.

Michigan only led 49-46 at the end of the third quarter but opened the fourth on a 10-0 run — with six straight from Flaherty to start it. She also found Thome for a transition layup and capped the run with a pair of free throws.

Jillian Dunston added nine points and 14 boards for Michigan (4-1), which outrebound­ed Ohio 50-31.

Dominique Doseck and Cierra Hooks each scored 17 points for Ohio (3-1). Amani Burke added 12 points.

NO. 1 CONNECTICU­T 96, MICHIGAN STATE 62: Azura Stevens recorded one of three UConn doubledoub­les and reached 1,000 points for her career as the Huskies beat the Spartans at the PK80 Invitation­al in Eugene, Oregon. Stevens had 25 points and 16 rebounds for UConn (5-0), who won their 136th consecutiv­e game against an unranked opponent. Sidney Cooks led MSU (4-1) with 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench, and Branndais Agee scored 10 points, giving her 1,001 for her career. NO. 16 DUKE 72, NO. 18 OREGON STATE 65: Lexie Brown scored Duke’s last 10 points of the game, finishing with 19, as the Blue Devils (4-1) held off the Beavers (3-2) in Durham, North Carolina. The Beavers used an 8-0 run to close within one with 5:49 to play and were down by three when Brown took over. She had back-to-back steals and layups, converting the first into a 3-point play, to make it 67-59.
