Locally made vehicles among ‘most wanted’

-

MARYSVILLE — Honda vehicles, including two assembled in Ohio, are among those listed in the Buyers Most Wanted Awards from Edmunds.com. The autoinformation website named the Accord and CR-V as the most popular in their respective segments, based on sales and online searches, among other indicators.

The Accord is made in Marysville, and the CR-V is made in East Liberty. They were two of four Honda models that were segment leaders, putting the brand in a tie with MercedesBenz for the most appearances on Edmunds’ list.

“These awards represent the voice of the customer and

celebrate the vehicles that are winning both the hearts and wallets of car buyers,” Jessica Caldwell, Edmunds’ executive director of industry analysis, said in a statement.

A total of 17 segments are listed.

Toyota had two winners, as did Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus. The following brands each had one model selected: Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Porsche and Subaru.

A national study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics finds that Ohio experienced 2.7 injuries per 100 full-time employees in 2016, below the national average of 3.2.

Rates for Ohio public employees were 3.1 injuries per 100 workers, compared with a national average of 4.7.

An increased focus on safety, a switch to a more serviceoriented economy coupled with improvement in technology and

more automation that makes some jobs safer are among the factors for lower rates.
