Lachey, Bangura grab player of year honors

2,475 yards on 211 attempts and scored 37 touchdowns. Minton ran for 2,137 yards with 31 TDs and 19 two-point conversion­s. Beckett made 40 receptions for 726 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown anchored a line that helped produce 500 yards of offense per game. Scheiderer racked up 120 tackles (45 for loss) with 15 sacks.

The offensive player of the year was running back Will Homan of Fort Recovery.

Sharing coach of the year were Scott Armrose of Northmor and Rusty Richards of Nelsonvill­e-York.

Armrose guided Northmor to an 8-2 record — equaling the most wins in program history — and its first playoff appearance. This came on the heels of 2-8 and 1-9 seasons.

In Division VII, record-setting Harvest Prep running back Daniel Bangura shared offensive player of the year honors with quarterbac­k Lukas Isaly of Hannibal River.

Bangura, a 5-10, 180pound senior, rushed for 3,401 yards and totaled 50 touchdowns with 11 two-point conversion­s. He capped his career with state records of 9,650 rushing yards and 133 TDs.

Other area players earning first-team all-Ohio were quarterbac­k Skyler Durbin of Danville, tight end Brice Berger of Danville, offensive lineman Tre Turnbo of Harvest Prep, defensive linemen Marshall Stull of Danville and Isaiah Mullens of Harvest Prep, and defensive backs Brett Baker of Grove City Christian and Logan Loy of Fisher Catholic.

Durbin passed for 2,331 yards and 22 TDs and rushed for 846 yards and seven TDs in the regular season. Berger made 31 receptions for 611 yards and eight TDs, and also made 111 tackles (10 for loss) with seven sacks at linebacker. Trumbo keyed an offense that rushed for 4,385 yards.

Stull made 89 tackles (23 for loss) with nine sacks. Mullens, a Wisconsin recruit, had 46 tackles (five for loss) with 10 quarterbac­k pressures in just eight games and was Prep’s leading receiver at tight end. Baker made seven intercepti­ons and 54 tackles. Loy returned two of his four intercepti­ons for touchdowns and made 67 tackles and eight sacks. He also rushed for 798 yards and scored 19 TDs.
