Late basket lifts Thomas Worthingto­n

Jazzlynn Gaiters’ offensive rebound and put-back with 18 seconds remaining lifted Thomas Worthingto­n to a 50-49 victory over host Hilliard Bradley in an Ohio Capital Conference, Cardinal Division game on Friday night.

Gaiters finished with 22 points for the Cardinals (3-0, 2-0), including 12 in the fourth quarter. Breanne Beatty added 15 points.

Kamerin Hillis and Carly Callahan led Bradley (0-3, 0-2) with 13 points apiece, and Abbey White had nine points and 10 rebounds. (5-0, 2-0) made 17 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter, and 27 of 35 overall, to hold off visiting Gahanna (2-3, 0-2) in the OCC Ohio. Kyria Walker led the Raiders with 15 points and made all eight free throw attempts, and Uju Ezeudu added 14 points, draining 8 of 11 from the line. Edyn Battle led the Lions with 20 points.

Six players scored at least seven points for host Central (4-1, 3-0), which jumped to an 11-2 lead and never trailed in an OCC Ohio win over North (2-1, 0-1). Kyla Whitehead led the Tigers with 14 points.

Kobie Burnside and London Woods combined for 45 points — 26 and 19 respective­ly — to lead host Independen­ce (3-1, 2-0) over South (2-3, 0-2) in a City League South game.

Annie Rauch had 17 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots in leading Hilliard Darby (4-1, 2-0) over visiting Delaware (2-1, 0-1) in the OCC Cardinal. Amanda-Clearcreek (4-1, 1-1) opened up a 20-3 first-quarter lead on the way to an Mid-State League Buckeye victory over visiting Bloom-Carroll (3-2, 1-1). Courtney Young led the Aces with 14 points. Makenzee Mason had 13 for the Bulldogs.

Logan Elm (4-0, 2-0) went on a 19-2 second-quarter run, then held on to beat host Fairfield Union (0-4, 0-2) in the MSL Buckeye. Abby Hatter led Braves with 14 points, and Megan Diehl added 13.

Sydney Houdeshell scored 16 points and Bella Findlay had 11 as Lakewood edged host Licking Valley in a Licking County League game.
