Rauch’s 17 points help Darby hold off Orange

Annie Rauch scored 17 points, and host Hilliard Darby hung on to edge Olentangy Orange 42-40 in a nonleague girls basketball game Tuesday.

Sydney Wyngarden added 12 points, seven assists and two blocks for Darby (6-1). She hit a pivotal 15-foot jumper to put the Panthers ahead by four with 2:50 remaining. Orange never got closer than two after that.

Taylor Myers had 15 points to lead the Pioneers (1-4).

Abby Hatter hit a go-ahead basket with 54 seconds remaining, and host Logan Elm (5-0, 3-0) drew a playercont­rol foul with four seconds left to hold off Amanda-Clearcreek (3-2, 1-2) in a Mid-State League Buckeye Division game. Jill Congrove added 11 points for the Braves, who made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter. Alyssa Evans paced the Aces with 23 points.

Mchale Grant scored 17 and Hailey Jordan 16 to help host Eastmoor Academy (5-0, 3-0) beat Independen­ce (3-2, 2-2) in a City League South Division contest. Carlisa Strickland scored 26 points for the 76ers, who hung tough until the Warriors pulled away down the stretch. Kadai Green-Tucker scored 21 points, and host South (3-3, 1-2) used a 16-6 fourth quarter to beat Walnut Ridge (0-5, 0-2) in City South play. Whitney Staggs had eight of her 12 points in a pivotal 12-5 third quarter, and host Whetstone (4-1, 3-0) went on to defeat Linden (2-2, 2-1) in a City North game. Macy Staggs grabbed 16 rebounds for the Braves.

Macy Spielman scored 15 points and Adrienne Wachtman added 12 for host Upper Arlington (4-2), which used a 20-9 third quarter to pull away from Scioto (1-4) in nonleague play.

Lauren Biehl led a balanced offense with 10 points, and visiting Olentangy (4-3) topped Hilliard Bradley (0-5) in a nonleague game. Bradley's Abbey White led all scorers with 13 points.
