Zuccarello, Rangers top Bruins in OT

BOSTON — Mats Zuccarello scored a power-play goal 1:56 into overtime to lift the New York Rangers to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

Michael Grabner and J.T. Miller also scored for the Rangers, who won for the ninth time in 13 games (9-3-1) overall and beat the Bruins for the seventh straight time. Henrik Lundqvist, playing back-to-back days, made 33 saves.

Brad Marchand and Danton Heinen scored for Boston, which lost its second straight after winning nine of 11. Tuukka Rask stopped 25 shots.

Skating 4-on-3 in the overtime after Boston was whistled for too many men on the ice, Zuccarello beat Rask with a rising shot from the right circle.

Trailing 2-1, the Bruins tied it on Marchand’s power-play goal at 5:38 of the third period. Marchand onetimed a cross-ice pass from David Pastrnak from the right circle for his 13th. Boston got the power play after Marchand drew a holding penalty on David Desharnais.

Boston’s David Krejci hit a post with seven minutes left in regulation.

The Rangers took a 1-0 lead when Grabner benefited from a fluky bounce with 5:18 left in the first. New York made it 2-0 on Miller’s power-play goal 2:41 into the second.

FLYERS 2, STARS 1, OT: Shayne Gostisbehe­re scored two goals, including the game-winner 3:50 into overtime to lead Philadelph­ia to their sixth straight victory, a home win over Dallas. Brian Elliott made 26 saves and Jakub Voracek had two assists for the Flyers. OILERS 3, WILD 2: Milan Lucic had a goal and assist as Edmonton held off Minnesota on the road. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujarvi also scored for Edmonton, which has alternated wins and losses for nine straight games. Matt Dumba scored twice for Minnesota, which lost for the first time in five games. BLUES 2, JETS 0: Carter Hutton made a careerhigh 48 saves to earn his ninth shutout as St. Louis beat Winnipeg at home. Vladimir Tarasenko and Vince Dunn scored for St. Louis, which snapped a two-game skid. ISLANDERS 4, KINGS 3, OT: Jordan Eberle scored 1:54 into overtime to lift New York to a home victory over Los Angeles Kings. John Tavares, Josh Bailey and Anders Lee also scored to give the Islanders the lead after they trailed 2-0. Oscar Fantenberg, Tyler Toffoli and Anze Kopitar scored for the Kings.

CAPITALS 3, DUCKS 2, OT: Alex Ovechkin scored on a slap shot at 1:58 of overtime, and Washington rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat Anaheim for their sixth straight win at home. Washington took only 15 shots over the first 40 minutes and trailed 2-0 before Nicklas Backstrom knocked in the rebound of a shot by Ovechkin at 3:05 of the third period. Evgeny Kuznetsov tied it just over four minutes later, beating Gibson on the stick side with a shot from the left circle. SENATORS 3, CANADIENS 0: Craig Anderson stopped 28 shots for his 40th shutout, leading Ottawa to a home victory over Montreal in the NHL 100 Classic outdoor game. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Bobby Ryan and Nate Thompson scored for the Senators.

PENGUINS 4, COYOTES

2: Olli Maatta scored with 14 seconds left and Pittsburgh ended a threegame losing streak with a road victory over Arizona. Pittsburgh pressured Arizona early and took a 2-0 lead on second-period goals by Carter Rowney and Evgeni Malkin.
