Hellebuyck, Jets beat Blues

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Connor Hellebuyck stopped 24 shots for his eighth career shutout, Patrik Laine got his team-high 16th goal of the season and the Winnipeg Jets beat the St. Louis Blues 4-0 Sunday night.

Adam Lowry, Mark Scheifele and Josh Morrissey also scored for Winnipeg, which lost 2-0 at St. Louis the previous night. Morrissey also had an assist, and Andrew Copp and Jacob Trouba added two each to help the Jets improve to 2-4-1 in their last seven games. Hellebuyck’s shutout was his second of the season. Patrick Kane scored two slick goals, Corey Crawford made 27 saves and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild for their season-high fifth straight win. Ryan Hartman also scored for Chicago, snapping a 17-game drought dating to Oct. 28. Tommy Wingels added a shorthande­d empty-netter.

Erik Haula scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Florida Panthers. Nate Schmidt, Colin Miller, Jonathan Marchessau­lt and James Neal also scored for Vegas, while goalie Malcolm Subban stopped 16 shots. The Golden Knights moved into first place in the Pacific Division.

Defenseman Mark Giordano scored two of the Flames’ four secondperi­od goals in Calgary’s rout of the Vancouver Canucks. Sam Bennett had a goal and three assists while Mark Jankowski had a goal and two assists for the Flames (17-14-3).

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL on Sunday for boarding Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vladislav Namestniko­v. Johnson was assessed a minor penalty for slashing and a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding in the second period of Colorado’s 6-5 home loss Saturday night.
