Wofford holds on to stun No. 5 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Fletcher Magee scored 27 points to help Wofford stun No. 5 North Carolina 79-75 on Wednesday night, snapping the reigning national champions' 23-game home winning streak.

The Terriers (8-4) led the entire second half and by as many as 14 points before holding off UNC's late-game run for a huge road win and their first win over a ranked team in 23 games.

The Tar Heels (10-2) closed to a point twice and missed four three-point attempts for the tie in the final 6 minutes.

Teddy Allen scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds as host West Virginia (10-1) beat Coppin State (0-12). The Mountainee­rs shot just 5 of 23 over the first 13 minutes. Allen then led West Virginia to a 15-1 run to close the first half to take a 42-18 lead. points and host Baylor (10-2) won its fifth straight, beating Southern (3-9). Baylor went on a 13-0 run in the first half to pull away, then had an 11-2 spurt after Southern cut its lead to 46-40 midway through the second half. off Furman (9-4).

James Painter Jr. scored 25 points and Anton Gill had 21 to lead host Nebraska (8-5) past Texas-San Antonio (7-6). Painter made 13 of 17 free throws for the Cornhusker­s, who hit 37 of 50 from the line. UTSA shot 9 of 10 on free throws.

Jordan Dartis scored 23 points and Ohio (6-5) pulled away early in the second half to beat Prairie View A&M (2-10). James Gollon added a career-best 17 points for Ohio, which shot 25 of 55 from the field and made 10 three-pointers.

Nate Navigato scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and host Toledo (6-5) cruised over Jackson State (3-9). Jaelan Sanford sank two three-pointers as part of an 11-4 start for the Rockets and they led all the way.

Women

Arike Ogunbowale scored 22 points and host Notre Dame (11-0) beat Marquette (6-5) in overtime. Down 73-70 with 44 seconds left in regulation, Notre Dame tied it when Kathryn Westbeld hit the first of two free throws, rebounded her miss on the second and scored with 40 seconds left.
