Column typical of opposition to bill

-

I try to be a fair-minded person, and would hope others would adopt the same outlook, but after reading the Thursday column “Fine print of tax bill too absurd to believe” by Joe Blundo, I was reminded of why recent polls indicate that the new tax bill is supposedly so unpopular — because the mainstream media has done all it can to represent it as a bad deal for the little guy.

Blundo explained that the bill contains 10,000 pages of text, and comments that no one knows what’s in it, then continues to attempt an explanation of reasons it is such a boon for the rich, and a bad deal for the middle class. I am wondering if he bothered to read all 10,000 pages before launching his jaded opinion.

He made his prejudice against those who have benefited from our free enterprise system quite obvious. He seems to think the wealthy all hide money in offshore bank accounts, have private jets, and that rich men marry only to have a “trophy wife” after expressing concern that “the nation is already too polarized,” which seems a bit contradictory.

Maybe the media should wait a year to determine the merits or deficiencies of the new bill, before offering so many uneducated criticisms.

In the meantime. I will remain happy that there are “rich” people among us, as I am not aware of any “poor” people who are hiring these days. Westerville
