Xavier rolls past Creighton

CINCINNATI — Trevon Bluiett emerged from his shooting slump with 24 points, Kaiser Gates responded to getting dropped from the starting lineup by scoring 16, and No. 10 Xavier recovered from back-to-back road losses by routing No. 25 Creighton 92-70 on Saturday.

The Musketeers (16-3, 4-2 Big East) shook up their starting lineup and got back in form after losses to Providence and No. 1 Villanova. They pulled ahead by 27 points midway through the second half against the Bluejays (14-3, 4-2).

Chris Mack got his 202nd win as Xavier's coach, tying Pete Gillen for the school record.

NO. 14 CINCINNATI 78, SOUTH FLORIDA 55: Jarron Cumberland scored 18 points, and visiting Cincinnati (15-2, 4-0 American Athletic Conference) shrugged off a slow start to beat South Florida (7-11, 0-5). The Bearcats shot 70 percent (14 of 20) while outscoring the Bulls 43-22 in the second half.

AKRON 80, BOWLING GREEN 78: Freshman Virshon Cotton scored 23 points and made a three-pointer with three seconds left to lift host Akron (8-8, 1-3 Mid-American Conference) over Bowling Green (11-6, 2-2) and snap a three-game skid. BUFFALO 82, MIAMI 66: Jeremy Harris scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds, and CJ Massinburg added 14 points and 11 boards to help host Buffalo (12-5, 4-0 MAC) pull away in the second half against Miami University (9-8, 2-2).

OHIO WESLEYAN 110, ALLEGHENY 48: Five players scored in double figures, and visiting Ohio Wesleyan (11-4, 6-2 North Coast Athletic Conference) led 59-19 at halftime in overwhelmi­ng Allegheny (5-10, 2-6). MOUNT UNION 82, CAPITAL 70: Mount Union (9-6, 5-3 Ohio Athletic Conference) shot 61.5 percent from the floor in the second half to break open a close game and defeat visiting Capital (7-8, 3-5). Austin Schreck led the Crusaders with 15 points. BALDWIN WALLACE 79, OTTERBEIN 66: Jay Battle scored 23 points, and visiting Baldwin Wallace (12-3, 6-2 OAC) shot 61 percent in the first half in beating Otterbein (0-15, 0-8). Andre Bradley led the Cardinals with 19 points.

WABASH 63, DENISON 46: Visiting Denison (8-7, 4-4 NCAC) shot just 29.3 percent from the field in losing to Wabash (7-8, 3-5). Maxwell Siwik led the Big Red with 14 points.

ALDERSON BROADDUS 67, OHIO DOMINICAN 65: Mike Davis scored 31 points and made the winning basket with 37 seconds left to lift host Alderson Broaddus (12-4, 6-3 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) over Ohio Dominican (8-9, 3-7). Hasan Varance led the Panthers with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
