Browns meet with ex- Giants coach

- From wire reports

Bounced from New York, Ben McAdoo might get a new opportunity with the Cleveland Browns.

McAdoo, who was fired as Giants coach in December after going 2-10 and benching star quarterback Eli Manning, is interviewing Tuesday to be the offensive coordinator for Cleveland coach Hue Jackson.

McAdoo, 40, is meeting with general manager John Dorsey and Jackson, said a person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team is not confirming any coaching interviews.

Jackson still is considering whether to bring on a coordinator after handling those duties the past two seasons. But after going 0-16, Jackson said he was open to handing over play-calling duties, and McAdoo has done that in the past.

McAdoo was New York’s offensive coordinator for two seasons before taking over as coach when Tom Coughlin left. McAdoo went 11-5 in 2016, but things unraveled for him after he demoted Manning, a two-time Super Bowl champion. McAdoo has connections with Dorsey — they worked together for seven seasons in Green Bay. McAdoo coached the Packers’ tight ends and quarterbacks.

Jackson, who has overhauled his offensive staff, previously met with Houston quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan about the coordinator’s position. Also, former Tennessee coach Mike Mularkey, who was fired Monday, could be on the Browns’ radar.

Last week, Jackson hired former Giants receivers coach Adam Henry to coach the Browns’ wideouts, and named Ken Zampese as his new quarterbacks coach. Zampese was fired last season as Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator.

Bengals donate to Jags’ QB for win over Steelers

Cincinnati Bengals fans are thanking Blake Bortles for helping the Jacksonville Jaguars eliminate the Pittsburgh Steelers from the playoffs.

The Blake Bortles Foundation says more than 100 Bengals fans have combined to contribute nearly $5,000 since Jacksonville beat Cincinnati’s biggest rival, the Steelers, 45-42 on Sunday. Bortles said that “Fans are at the core of the football experience, and it’s truly exciting and rewarding when they band together, regardless of the team they cheer for, to make a positive impact in the lives of others.”

Earlier this year, Buffalo fans donated generously to the Andy Dalton Foundation after Cincinnati stunned Baltimore and sent the Bills to the playoffs for the first time in 18 years.

Seahawks name new coordinators

The Seattle Seahawks have hired Brian Schottenheimer as their offensive coordinator and are bringing back Ken Norton Jr. to oversee the defense.

Norton was the defensive coordinator in Oakland before getting fired after 10 games last season.

Schottenheimer takes over for Darrell Bevell, who was fired last week after seven seasons.
