Izzard lifts Alder over Darby

Jackson Izzard hit an open three-pointer off a pass from Jackie Santa-Emma with 11 seconds left in overtime, and host Jonathan Alder topped Hilliard Darby 45-43 Tuesday night in a nonleague game.

Jacob Koenig scored 18 points — including all six Pioneers points in the fourth quarter — and Izzard added 14 for Jonathan Alder (10-2), which led throughout before a 16-3 Darby run in the final quarter. Trailing 37-34 in the waning seconds, Koenig hit a deep three to force overtime.

Jalen Benjamin and Chandler Barlow each scored 12 points for Darby (7-4), which rallied from an eightpoint halftime deficit.

Trey Ballengee scored 15 points to pace Dublin Jerome (6-4, 3-3) to an Ohio Capital Conference Cardinal Division road win over Dublin Scioto (7-5, 3-3). Noah Brechbuhle­r scored 18 points and Andrew Golda had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Irish, who never got closer than five points in the fourth quarter. Jeremiah Keene scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half, and host Westervill­e North (11-2, 4-1) held off Olentangy Orange (9-5, 2-3) in the OCC Buckeye. Julius Brown added 23 points for North, including a free throw and a layup after the Pioneers closed to 65-61 in the final minute. Ryan Cutler scored 17 points and Bryson Lane 15 for Orange.

Girls

Josie Smith scored 17 of her 23 points in the second half, and Micaylah Nash combined 18 points with 18 rebounds to help host New Albany (10-4) rally to beat Worthingto­n Kilbourne (4-11) in nonleague action. Smith scored eight of the Eagles’ 17 points in the fourth quarter, when New Albany erased a four-point deficit. Maggie Crozier led the Wolves with 12 points.

Lexie Matheny scored 11 of her 15 points in the first half to propel visiting Lancaster (9-6) past Thomas Worthingto­n (6-5) in a nonleague contest. Anna Hartig added 10 for the Golden Gales, who never surrendere­d a nine-point halftime advantage. Breanne Beatty had six of her 14 points for Thomas Worthingto­n in the fourth quarter.
