Michigan rebounds by turning back Rutgers

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Moe Wagner scored 16 points and Duncan Robinson added 12 to lift No. 23 Michigan to a 62-47 victory over Rutgers on Sunday.

The Wolverines (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) rebounded from a 20-point loss at Nebraska on Thursday, taking the lead for good with a 13-0 run in the first half. Both teams shot well under 50 percent from the field.

Corey Sanders scored 12 points for Rutgers (12-9, 2-6), and Deshawn Freeman added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freeman also had the only assist of the game for the Scarlet Knights, who finished with 13 turnovers.

Robinson came in shooting only 36 percent from three-point range on the season but went 4 of 8 from beyond the arc, playing crucial first-half minutes after Isaiah Livers was called for two quick fouls.

Zavier Simpson had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Michigan, and Charles Matthews added 10 points. three-pointer with 1:04 remaining, and Nicole Ekhomu added a free throw with 7.8 seconds left to help visiting Florida State (18-2, 6-1) upend Louisville (20-1, 6-1). Victoria Vivians had 24 points to lead visiting Mississipp­i State (20-0, 6-0 Southeaste­rn Conference) over Tennessee (16-3, 4-2). Teaira McCowan added 12 points and 18 rebounds, and the Bulldogs held the Lady Vols to their lowest point total of the season. Tennessee missed its last 10 shots and had no baskets in the game's final 7 minutes, 54 seconds.

Paris Kea scored a career-high 36 points, including a threepoint­er with 1.8 seconds left that sent the game into overtime, and host North Carolina (14-6, 4-3 ACC) ended a sevengame losing streak against Duke (15-5, 4-3).

Kenisha Bell scored 21 points and Carlie Wagner added 15, and the two combined for six free throws in the final 25 seconds to help Minnesota (16-5, 5-3 Big Ten) hand Iowa (15-5, 3-4) its third straight loss.

Kate Cain scored 14 points, and visiting Nebraska (14-6, 5-2 Big Ten) held Rutgers (17-5, 3-2) scoreless for the final 5:56 of the game.
