OSU shuts out Michigan in men’s hockey

Sean Romero stopped all 32 shots he faced as Ohio State's men's hockey team blanked Michigan 4-0 Friday night in front of 9,951 fans at Value City Arena.

Romero made 24 saves over the first two periods for his 13th win of the season, and the Buckeyes defense held Michigan 12-11-2, 7-82-1 Big Ten) in check through four power-play opportunit­ies.

Mason Jobst had a goal and an assist. Matt Miller assisted on both third-period goals for the Buckeyes (16-5-4, 9-5-10), who converted on two of four man-advantages, getting goals from Tanner Laczynski and Dakota Joshua.

Women’s hockey

Minnesota-Duluth (11-13-2, 7-10-2 WCHA) scored three secondperi­od goals to down No. 5 Ohio State (17-6-4, 10-3-4) 4-1 Friday at Amsoil Arena in Duluth. OSU's Tatum Skaggs tied the game 1-1 midway through the second before Jayln Elmes, Sydney Brodt and Naomi Rogge scored within six minutes, 10 seconds for the game's final margin.

Wrestling

The second-ranked Buckeyes earned the first 23 points, led by three pins and three tech falls, on the way to a 35-12 victory over Michigan State. Luke Pletcher at 133 pounds, Myles Martin (184) and Kollin Moore (197) all remained undefeated with their respective wins.

Women's tennis

Redshirt freshman Shiori Fukuda posted her first career singles and doubles wins as part of a 4-1 victory for 14thranked Ohio State over Kansas. The Buckeyes will play the winner of Wake Forest and Arkansas Saturday at 4 p.m. in the ITA-Kickoff Weekend at the Varsity Tennis Center.
