Moms help parents cope with disease

It’s been more than a year since Duchenne muscular dystrophy took away Jackson Maynard’s ability to walk.

The 10-year-old now motors around his Dublin home in a power wheelchair that has left a wide groove at the base of the wall across from his bedroom door.

Jackson’s parents purchased the portable chair just as a temporary fix. They ordered a permanent one last April, but still don’t have it because a private insurance
