Columbus police fatally shoot suspect

Hours after two Westerville police officers were killed responding to a 911 hang-up that appeared to stem from a domestic-violence situation, Columbus police officers on Saturday night fatally shot a suspect in another domestic-violence situation, police said.

Police were called to a house in the 100 block of Eldon Avenue on the Hilltop around 9:30 p.m. on a domestic-violence complaint, police said.

When officers arrived, they were told the suspect had fled a mile and a half west to the 100 block of Letchworth Avenue.

Police said officers found the suspect in the area, a confrontation ensued and officers fatally shot the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional information, including the suspect’s name and the names of the officers, had not been released Sunday.
