Wisniewski realizes dream to play for US

- By Steve Gorten

Like Nick Foligno and Brandon Dubinsky, Cam Atkinson will be cheering former Blue Jackets teammate James Wisniewski’s chase for a gold medal when the U.S. men’s hockey team plays its Olympics opener on Wednesday against Slovenia.

Atkinson also will be a bit envious of “Wiz.”

“I’m jealous as hell!” Atkinson said, grinning widely. “It’s every hockey player’s dream to play for your country, represent your country at the highest stage. It’s a great opportunity for him.”

It’s a chance Wisniewski, who played four seasons (2011-15) for Columbus and still owns a home in Dublin, wouldn’t have had if his other hockey dream of returning to the NHL (which he hasn’t given up on) had come to fruition.
