After falling behind 2-0, the Jackets got a goal from Foligno with 1:39 left in the first period, and another one from him at 2:25 of the second.

Alexander Wennberg had the primary assist on both.

But the Leafs quickly regained the lead, and then their two-goal advantage, on goals from Kadri, at 8:03, and Mitch Marner, at 10:17, of the second.

Johnson blasted in a shot from the left point at 14:35 for his third goal of the season and first point in the past 23 games. That cut the deficit to 4-3, but Kadri scored at 11:21 of the third to secure a Leafs win.

“They capitalize­d on their opportunit­ies,” Johnson said. “They got a couple of 2-on1s, made a couple of nice passes to trailers. … They’re a talented group, their young guys are patient with the puck and they create a lot offensivel­y.”
