Ten shows to watch or record:

■ “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver”

(11 tonight, HBO): After a three-month hiatus, our favorite fakeanchor guy returns to launch the fifth season of his Emmy-winning satirical program. The boisterous Brit will surely dive into weighty subject matter, and we are sure to be really really appalled.

■ “When Calls the Heart” (9 tonight, Hallmark): The saga of Hope Valley continues in the premiere of season five. Lee (Kavan Smith) is made acting sheriff when Abigail (Lori Loughlin) and Sheriff Bill (Jack Wagner) leave town to testify in the trial of Gowen (Martin Cummins).

■ “Blurt” (7 p.m. Monday, Nickelodeon): The comedic TV movie for kids tells the story of Jeremy Martin (Jace Norman), who, after a virtual-reality mishap, starts spouting every thought he has out loud. Too bad he’s running for school president.

■ “The 2018 American Rescue Dog Show” (8 p.m. Monday, Hallmark): The competition invites viewers to help save lives through the adoption of shelter pets. Offbeat categories include best in couch potato, wiggle butt, underbite and snoring.

■ “Traffic Stop” (8 p.m. Monday, HBO): The Oscar-nominated documentary short recalls a 2015 incident in which African-American schoolteacher Breaion King was stopped for a minor traffic violation in Austin, Texas. What should have been a routine encounter escalated into a harrowing arrest that was captured by police dash cameras.

■ “Frontline” (9 p.m. Tuesday, PBS): In the first of two parts, the documentary series examines the bitter rivalry between Iran and Saudi Arabia that has plunged the Middle East into sectarian war.

■ “The Amazing Race”

(9 p.m. Wednesday, CBS): The milestone 30th season culminates with a two-hour sprint to the finish that includes stops in Hong Kong and San Francisco.

■ “The Bachelor Winter Games” (10 p.m. Thursday, ABC): The romance reality show mercifully concludes with participants reuniting and reflecting on their experiences.

■ “High Maintenance”

(11 p.m. Friday, HBO): The comedy's hazy misadventures continue. Abdullah (Abdullah Saeed), a potential partner, takes over the weed for the Guy (Ben Sinclair) while the Guy tries to take time off. The prediction: chaos.

■ Winter Olympics (8 p.m. Saturday, NBC): Couch time for the 2018 winter contests is now. Events include final runs of the four-man bobsled and the gala figure-skating exhibition.
