Genesis had a score of 81 out of 100, which was one point ahead of Audi. The rest of the top five, in order, were BMW, Lexus and Porsche.

The top non-luxury brand was Kia, which was sixth, followed by Subaru, Tesla, Honda and Toyota.

Honda’s score was 73, up one point from the prior year.

Acura’s score was 62, down from 68. It performed poorly in just about every aspect of testing compared to other luxury brands. Cadillac, Jaguar and Alfa Romeo were the only luxury brands with lower scores and rankings.

“Unfortunately, many Acura products are neither luxurious nor reliable,” Fisher said.

Most of the Acura lineup is assembled in central Ohio, including the TLX and ILX sedans, the MDX and RDX SUVs and the NSX supercar.

Contacted for a response, Jessica Pawl, a Honda spokeswoman, pointed to a long list of awards and

1. Genesis 2. Audi 3. BMW 4. Lexus 5. Porsche 6. Kia 7. Subaru 8. Tesla 9. Honda 10. Toyota 11. Chrysler 12. Hyundai 13. Mazda 14. Infiniti 15. Mercedes-Benz 16. Volkswagen 17. Lincoln 18. Volvo recognition for Honda and Acura vehicles.

Included in this was something from Consumer Reports. The magazine’s April issue lists seven Honda models and one from Acura as “recommended.” The Honda models included the Fit, Accord, Odyssey, HR-V, CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline; the Acura model was the RDX.

“American Honda greatly values both customer and third-party feedback,” Pawl said in an email. “Where quality and safety are concerned, we are never satisfied and continue to work to improve our vehicles and the overall value they deliver to our customers.”
