The Columbus Dispatch

Don’t publish photos of suspect

-

I found it in very bad taste and inappropriate to publish a color photograph of Quentin L. Smith, the accused killer of the Westerville officers, in Wednesday’s Dispatch. No one needs to be reminded of this horrific tragedy caused by this convicted felon by seeing him displayed on the front page of the Metro section. Seeing photos of Westerville Officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli and Sam, the canine officer, were sad reminders and more appropriate than that of the killer.

We all hope that justice will be served in this case.

Barbara Fischer Columbus because the majority of his cartoons speak for themselves. However, this cartoon was stunningly offensive.

Does Beeler know how Trump felt? To assume he was thinking about the Russian probe or tweeting in light of the Parkland, Florida, shootings was insensitive and despicable.

Charlene Robbins Delaware rapidly, into a city that has its highways trashed on all sides, with residents being told there are no funds for cleanup?

According to “Litter and Littering Facts” on the city of Columbus Department of Public Service website, “Litter begets litter” and “if an area is neglected and badly maintained, crime and antisocial behavior will increase.”

What does Columbus have? Trash and crime! I guess it is good that this rapid transit will be via “tube” so that no one can see our city. Kids are dying inside these schools at the hands of white men with guns, and do you know what I’m most scared of? The fact that a 19-yearold on the FBI watch list was able to buy an assault weapon capable of gunning down dozens of people in a matter of minutes.

I’m a minor. I can’t vote. I can’t change the laws. I can’t do much except be informed and tell the people who can do something to do something.

Guns are the problem here and the laws need to change if these deaths are going to stop. And if the National Rifle Association’s money is what’s keeping politicians from changing those laws, they should grow a spine and save people’s lives. Dublin
