Buffalo controls lane, routs Ohio

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nick Perkins scored 21 points, Dontay Caruthers poured in 19 more and Buffalo surpassed 100 points for the third time this season in a 108-82 win over Ohio on Saturday.

Jeremy Harris added 12 points and 11 assists, Wes Clark had 12 points and 10 rebounds and CJ Massinburg finished with 15 points for Buffalo, which shot 53 percent to set a program record for points scored in a Mid-American Conference game.

The Bulls (21-8, 13-3) outscored Ohio 58-30 in the paint and had a 48-32 edge in rebounds.

Tied at 31 late in the first half, Buffalo got a three-pointer from Harris to take the lead for good and spark a 12-2 run. In the second half, Caruthers stretched the advantage to 77-57 on a layup with 11:57 left and the margin never dropped below 20 points the rest of the way.

Teyvion Kirk scored 21 points and Mike Laster had 19 to lead five players in double figures for Ohio (12-16, 5-11).

MIAMI 64, AKRON 62, OT: Logan McLane scored 23 points on 9-for-11 shooting and Miami University (15-14, 8-8 MAC) defeated host Akron (1216, 5-11) in overtime. Eric Parrish's three-point play with 36 seconds left in the extra session reduced the Zips' deficit to 61-60 before McLane followed with a quick layup. Jimond Ivey made a pair of free throws before Rod Mills Jr. made 1 of 2 foul shots and Miami led 64-62 with 20 seconds left. Ivey missed a threepoint attempt with four seconds to go.

KENT STATE 64, BOWLING GREEN 63: Jalen Avery hit two free throws with 3 seconds left to give host Kent State (14-15, 8-8 MAC) a victory over Bowling Green (16-13, 7-9).

WITTENBERG 82, OHIO WESLEYAN 70: Connor Seipel scored 28 points and Chad Roy had 26 as host Wittenberg (26-2) defeated Ohio Wesleyan (19-9) in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament final. Nate Axelrod scored 23 points to lead Ohio Wesleyan.

OHIO DOMINICAN 80, DAVIS & ELKINS 62: Ronnie Williams hit eight threepoint­ers and scored 26 points to lead host Ohio Dominican (17-10, 12-8 Great Midwest Athletic Conference) past Davis & Elkins (7-19, 5-15). Ohio Dominican shot 15 of 39 on three-pointers; Davis & Elkins hit just 4 of 24.
