A longtime West Side Chevrolet dealership says it expects to sell its business by this spring to a Michiganbased dealership group.

Representatives for Bobby Layman Chevrolet made a filing with the state stating that the dealership is finalizing a deal with Feldman GM Holdings for the assets of the company.

“The date of the closing of this sale is not yet final but could occur sometime in the spring of this year,” according to the notice sent to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Such notices are usually sent to the state when layoffs are planned. This notice said 103 employees would be affected by the change, but the filing indicated that many, if not all, of the employees may be rehired by the new owner immediately after the sale.

“We will technically end the employment of everyone on our last day ... (T) hose who will be employed by the buyer will begin their employment the next day,” the letter reads.

A Bobby Layman executive who did not identify himself declined to comment on the filing, and a representative for Feldman GM, which has several dealerships in the suburban Detroit area, could not be reached.

Bobby Layman also has a Cadillac GMC dealership in Carroll, southeast of Columbus, which is not mentioned in the filing.
